Is the Fitbit Versa Lite Worth It?

Is the Fitbit Versa Lite Worth It?

When searching the market for a smartwatch, the options are endless!

However, one watch in particular has stood out to me. When initially beginning my research for a smartwatch I had several distinguishing factors I had in mind:

  • Budget Friendly
  • Usefulness
  • Device Feature

I was looking to invest in a smartwatch that was budget friendly, being a college student and part time worker. I wanted to be sure that the watch was something that would definitely be incorporated into my daily life, specifically a health tracker.

When researching brands, I found that it can be overwhelming comparing so many products that are meant to do the same variety of tasks.

I narrowed what features I could benefit from and which I could hold off on. The end result of my search led me to the Fitbit Versa Lite series.

The Versa Lite is listed as low as $159.99 on the Fitbit brand website, comparably more budget friendly when looking for a health tracker with the bold, sleek design of a smartwatch.

The Versa Lite includes sleep tracking, a heart rate monitor, step counting, daily calories burned, water and meal logging. However, one of my favorite features happens to be the daily goal reminders. The number of reminders can be customized to your liking. Personally, I have hourly step-goal reminders and daily workout reminders. I find that these reminders truly motivate me to get moving!

Studies show that people who use wearable technologies, such as a Fitbit, are more likely to have health-related autonomy. The notion of healthy habits, such as these daily or hourly reminders, obligates the wearer to carry out their healthy habits. By repeating these habits and forming routine, the wearer will develop and continuously carry out their healthy habits on their own, without the motivation of the smartwatch device.

In fact, another study done in a rehab center for women found the same results. The study shows that the women were most likely to relapse when in a pessimistic state of mind. To combat these episodes of negative emotional states, the women were steered towards building a healthy lifestyle through physical activity. The study found that the percentage of women who wore the Fitbit during the 12 week intervention had records of the highest physical activity and abstinence.

Overall, the Fitbit is very effective when incorporated into someone’s established healthy habits as well as useful in helping an individual begin new habits. Thus, making the watch the most affordable wearable device for any user, as well as proving very effective in its purpose as a healthy tracker.

From my own experience, I’ve found the watch to be useful for any kind of day. My Fitbit always congratulates me for surpassing my step goals after my long work shifts. The personalized amount of how many times I get physical activity per week are always satisfying when they are met. And to top it all off, the watch is water resistant, making it wearable for logging long swim sessions in the gym or wave-jumping at the beach!
